Creative Theories: Thinking and Making

Below is my final explorative drawing; I have worked into my last explorative drawing and added my floor plans and overlaid my sectional model with the LiDAR scans. I am very pleased with how this has turned out and I believe that it captures the atmosphere and character of the manor well and communicates my proposal for Wymering Manor well.  I have thoroughly enjoyed this module, I have enjoyed experimenting with different forms of model making, different ways of thinking, and being able to play and create. I look forward to the exhibition and I hope that others like my proposal. 

Following on from my adjacency diagram, I have started developing a potential plan; I believe that a plan similar to this would be best as it has good circulation throughout the manor, it also allows for groups of people to stop and look at different artefacts in different rooms at a time. 

 Below is my explorative drawing; After doing my research into unconventional exhibitions and adaptive reuse, I decided to use a combination of LiDAR scans, plans and a photo of my sectional model within my explorative drawing. I decided to continue the idea of familiarity and nostalgia in my drawing, I have done this by layering and combining different LiDAR scans to form a messy collage of views within the manor; mostly views of the great hall to further induce these feelings as my sectional model is of the great hall. I decided to layer the LiDAR scans in this 'messy' way to represent the complexity, character, and history of the manor. 

Following on from my research, my proposal for Wymering Manor is to take a similar route as the 14 Henrietta Street Museum ; restoring, protecting, and adapting the manor into a museum.  Reflecting on my demographic research, adapting Wymering Manor into a museum is the best choice as the manor is located in a significantly uneducated and unemployed area. This gives the local community job opportunities and access to local history and self education. Additionally, this will bring the community together and will be a new heritage attraction that the local community can be proud of. The manor is located in the middle of a large area of housing, which has very few attractions or shops. From this, installing a café within the museum will increase popularity, visitors, and additional job opportunities.  The manor will need extensive work to make it structurally safe; support beams will need to be installed, especially in the drawing room, dining room, queens room, loft and most of ...
