Exhibition of Poster and Feedback
Below is a copy of my poster of my artefact:
Todays presentations went well and I received very helpful feedback;
- Look into Bricolage
- Redundancy of functions – Broken / not wanted
- Thinking about theatrical interaction with Wymering – stage sets / installations in the rooms – fragmentations/parts of the manor/historical? – response to ruination and how it is.
- Sarah Sze, ruined site work - the last garden.
- See Adhocism
Bricolage is the construction or creation of a piece of work from a diverse range of objects or materials that happen to be available, or a work constructed using mixed media. Its applied in an art context to artists who use a diverse range of non-traditional art materials. This approach became popular in the early twentieth century when resources were scarce, and aspects of surrealism, dada and cubism have a bricolage character. (1) I believe that my artefact is a strong example of bricolage and adhocism. Sarah Sze's The Last Garden is a very inspiring installation and is a interesting unconventional way to present an installation which I hope to explore more within my work.
For next week we are working on an explorative drawing of our proposal. For my drawing I am planning on experimenting with LiDAR scans of Wymering manor, looking into unconventional installations, how to present the manor through installations, whether this be through stage sets or smaller installations within the manor. I will also be researching artists / architects that have designed unconventional installations and forms of adaptive reuse with historical buildings.

A good post - and nice summary of your studio session.
